To ask the Secretary of State for Health if his Department's plans for all inspection reports for nursing homes to be made available to the public will include reports of inspections that have already been carried out. [15182]

No. From 1 April 1998 all nursing home inspection reports carried out after that date will be available to the public. In some areas inspection reports are already made available to the public with the agreement of nursing home proprietors. We will consider what further action might be taken within the existing legal framework to allow access to past reports.
