To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what discussions she has had with other countries relating to the linking of international aid to records of human rights. [14122]

In all my meetings I make it clear that our Government are committed to a rights-based approach to human development. My Department's particular concern is for the rights of the poor to make their voices heard and to secure the social and economic rights laid down in the universal declaration of human rights. All our work is devoted to this end.
