To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will list the secondary schools which are partially selective, indicating those which band their intake; and if he will make a statement. [17762]

The Department does not hold comprehensive information on partially selective schools or those which band their intake. Information is available only on those schools which since 1989 have had statutory proposals approved to introduce partial selection and those grant maintained schools which received approval to select up to 10 per cent. of their pupils on the basis of ability or aptitude in certain specified subjects between January 1989 and August 1996. This is provided in the following tables.
