To ask the Secretary of State for Health what monitoring his Department undertakes of the waiting times for hospital operations for (a) under 65-year-old patients and (b) those over 65 years. [17372]

Information on numbers of patients who have been admitted to hospital, analysed by age group, is contained in "Hospital Episode Statistics". This is published annually and copies are available in the Library. The source data can be further analysed to provide information about waiting times by age group.
