Maintenance vehicles are not exempt from the requirement that seat belts must be worn where they are available. There are specific exemptions for drivers in particular circumstances—these are listed in regulation 6 of The Motor Vehicles (Wearing of Seat Belts) Regulations 1993, SI 1993 No. 176.
