To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what central Government payments have been made to the Police Federation in each of the last five years in support of (a) conferences organised by the Federation and (b) other purposes; and if he will indicate the statutory authority under which such payments are made. [67028]

The information requested is shown in the table. The only payments made in support of conferences are in respect of travel and subsistence expenses made for members of the Joint Central Committee and these cannot readily be shown separately from expenses paid for other purposes. Payments are made under sections 57(1) and 60(2)(d) of the Police Act 1996.
