To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what plans he has to extend industrial injury benefit to the self-employed; and if he will make a statement. [67122]

There are no current plans to extend Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit to the self-employed. I refer the hon. Member to the written answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Bury, South (Mr. Lewis) on 20 January 1999, Official Report, column 474.
