Inward Investment

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is for each year since 1981 (a) the number of inward investment projects, (b) the total value of investment in real terms and (c) the total number of jobs in Scotland which were dependent on investment from (i) other United Kingdom countries, (ii) the European Union, (iii) the United States of America and (iv) the rest of the world. The above figures are based on information provided by the companies involved themselves when the investment decision was taken and take no account of subsequent developments. As a general rule of thumb, two thirds of announced jobs are actually created.

From 1 July 1999, this will be a matter for the Scottish Parliament.
