To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport if he will list those people he has appointed to public bodies since 1 November 1998, indicating the positions to which they have been appointed and if they receive remuneration. [76412]

Under the US political system there are no exact counterparts for DCMS Ministers. However, since 1 June 1998 my Ministers and I have met the following key individuals from those organisations most closely linked to my Department's responsibilities and to the US Government:On Wednesday 16 September 1998 in Washington DC I met Ellen Lowell, White House Millennium Co-ordinator; William Kennard, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission; and, Harriet Fullbright, Chair, President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities.On Thursday 25 February 1999, in New York, Alan Howarth, Minister for the Arts, met Ms Scott Shanklin-Preston, Senior Deputy Chair, National Endowment for the Arts; Ed McBride, President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities; and, Malcolm Richardson, White House Millennium Council.
