To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what plans he has to review the Motor Insurers Bureau agreements in relation to (a) untraced and (b) uninsured motorists. [77577]

I have no immediate plans to review the Untraced Drivers Agreement. A revised Untraced Drivers Agreement was introduced in June 1996 after a comprehensive review.

The 1988 Uninsured Drivers Agreement is currently under review and a final draft of a revised agreement is being considered in the light of proposed changes to civil law procedures in cases involving third party liability, arising from Lord Woolfe's recommendations.
