To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if the company AgrEvo has a marketing consent to grow genetically modified crops in the UK. [79501]

I have been asked to reply.AgrEvo (France) has one such consent under Council Directive 90/220/EEC on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms. This consent is for a maize modified for tolerance to glufosinate ammonium herbicide. The consent is for agricultural use leading to animal and human consumption and was issued by the French authorities on 3 August 1998.
