To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what plans he has to carry out a study on the rail link between London and Cheltenham/Gloucester; what discussions he has had with (a) train operators and (b)Railtrack about this line and the services on it; what discussions he has had about providing a dual track from Swindon to Kemble; and if he will make a statement. We have no plans to carry out a study on the rail link between London and Cheltenham/Gloucester, and we have had no discussions with the train operators or Railtrack about this line or the services on it, or about providing a dual track from Swindon to Kemble.
