To ask the Secretary of State for Health what contact his Department has had with the public sector team of the fraud squad concerning the NHS estates PFI scheme; and if he will make a statement. [97531]

[holding answer 12 February 2003]: Allegations of fraud which are brought to the Department's attention are investigated by the National Health Service Counter Fraud Service (CFS). For obvious reasons, it is not our practice to comment one way or the other on the detail of investigations which may or may not be taking place or on the conduct of any investigation or on contacts with other agencies with whom the CFS routinely works.
