Common childhood conditions, including enuresis and paediatric continence, will be considered primarily by the healthy child and young people module of the national service framework for children, young people and maternity services.
To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans he has to introduce training for (a) commissioners and (b) managers on managing comprehensive Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in accordance with the national service framework for children. [100497]
A conference for joint commissioners/ managers of child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) in the light of the pending publication of the emerging findings from the CAMHS module of the Children's national service framework was held on 7 January in Doncaster. Further conferences are planned for 4 April in Newbury and 20 May in London.
To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans he has to monitor the child and adolescent mental health targets set out in his Department's publication "Improvement, expansion and reform: the next three years". [100554]
The objectives for improving and expanding child and adolescent mental services (CAMHS), set out in the priorities and planning framework 2003–06, "Improvement, Expansion and Reform", will be incorporated into the local delivery plans currently being prepared by primary care trusts. Local monitoring of these plans will be undertaken by strategic health authorities.At a national level, progress towards the CAMHS objectives will be monitored mainly via the annual CAMHS mapping exercise, which will provide detailed information on the level of services. The first mapping survey has just been completed. This will be used as a baseline against which future service improvements will be measured.
