To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many (a) doctors, (b) nurses, (c) professions ancillary to medicine, (d) nursing auxiliaries and (e) hospital porters, cleaners and cooks were employed in the NHS (i) in each health authority area in the North East in 1996 and (ii) in each PCT area in the North East at the most recent date for which figures are available.
