Arrests Without Charge

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people have been arrested but not charged during the last five years broken down by (a) offence, (b) age, (c) ethnic origin and (d) gender; and what percentage of these individuals were arrested in connection with recordable offences. [106877]

Statistics are collected on arrests for notifiable offences by offence group, age, gender and ethnicity. The statistics do not record what action followed the arrest, nor do they cover arrests for recordable offences.
