To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions if he will estimate the number of people eligible for the 2002–03 winter fuel payment who needed to make a claim; and of that number, how many failed to do so before the March deadline. [108699]

I refer the hon. Member to the written answers given to him on 17 December 2002, Official Report, column 607W and 10 March 2003, Official Report, column 95W.
Since then, further claim forms have been received. A total of more than 213,000 forms were returned before 31 March this year.
