To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what British forces are engaged in Afghanistan; what plans he has to replace them; and if he will make a statement. [110026]

There are currently some 340 British troops serving in Afghanistan, predominantly with the International Security Assistance Force, where our current commitment is to provide forces until August 2003. Decisions on their replacement will be taken over the coming months.
