To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the methods of disposal of fallen stock on farms in Northern Ireland. [107919]

Guidance on the current methods of disposal of fallen stock is available from Divisional Veterinary Offices in Northern Ireland.Agriculture Departments will shortly be writing to all UK livestock farmers explaining the changes to disposal methods, pending the introduction of the EU Animal By-Products Regulation, which will ban the on-farm burial or burning of fallen stock with effect from 30 April 2003.
