To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment his Department has made of the effect of sugar intake on hyperactivity of children. [111407]

The Department has not carried out research on the effect of sugar intake on hyperactivity. However, research published to date has not confirmed an association between sugar intake and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children or adults.
