To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what percentage of total costs were represented by administration costs for (a) Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council and (b) Shropshire County Council, in each of the last five years; and what the average percentage for local government was. [113050]

Gross expenditure on administration and support services, expressed as a percentage of net current expenditure for Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council, Shropshire County Council and all England, in the last five years, were as shown in the following table. Averages for shire counties and shire districts are also shown for comparison.
