To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what the target is for efficiency savings in 2003–04 expressed (a) in money terms and (b) as a percentage of the Departments expenditure limit. [114106]

My Department's efficiency saving are currently measured against its Departmental Expenditure Limit for gross running costs. The Departments gross running costs provision for 2003–04 has assumed efficiency savings of £2.5 per cent. or £12.0 million in money terms.
