To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills if he will make a statement on the Micro Schools Initiative in London. [114215]

There is no Micro Schools Initiative as such in London. In our recent document The London Challenge: Transforming London Secondary Schools, we say that as part of the London Challenge programme, we will support the development of innovations which have been successfully tried in other urban schools. We give as an example the small schools model, which breaks large schools into more manageable and personal units, and which has been successfully tried in some parts of the United States of America.
