Mrs. Ann Cryer
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what measures the Government has taken to implement the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty 2000. [115742]
Mr. Mike O'Brien
The UK is a strong supporter of the 1968 Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). We also support the 1995 Decisions and Resolution of the 1995 Review Conference on the implementation of the NPT, and the Final Document agreed at the 2000 NPT Review Conference. We are committed to all aspects of the NPT and have taken steps towards implementation of the Treaty, for which I refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Blaenau Gwent (Llew Smith) on 12 May 2003, Official Report, column 85W.
