To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what plans his Department has to provide accommodation for traveller communities whilst ensuring that settled communities are not deprived of essential services. [115934]

Local authorities have the responsibility to ensure that adequate accommodation is available to meet the needs of the local community including Gypsies and Travellers. Both communities have the same right to access these services, and their needs should be assessed accordingly.
