To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how many licences have been issued in respect of controlling Canada geese in each of the last five years. [126016]

The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 protects all wild birds and implements the EC Birds Directive in Great Britain Under article 9(3) of the directive we are required to send a report to the Commission on the implementation of Article 9, undertaken through section 16 of the 1981 Act.The figures for the last five years are as follows:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how many licences in respect of controlling Canada geese have been issued to the British Airport Authority in the last five years. [126017]

In the last five years the Department has issued a total of 58 licences specifically for air safety. This represents the total number of licences issued rather than those specifically issued to the British Airport Authority.
