To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many whole-time equivalent radiologists were working in the NHS in each of the last five years. [127000]

The table shows the number of whole-time equivalent medical staff specialising in clinical radiology in the last five years.

The number of whole-time equivalent consultant radiologists increased by 16 per cent. between September 1997 and September 2002.
