To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland who has responsibility for the designation of conservation areas in Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement. [125948]

The Department of the Environment's Planning Service is responsible for the designation of conservation areas in Northern Ireland, and is empowered to do so under Article 50(1) of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991.
