To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Department for Constitutional Affairs whether he has consulted solicitors on the proposed re-organisation of family courts in London. [128960]

The Greater London Magistrates' Courts Authority (GLMCA), which has responsibility for magistrates courts in the Greater London area, has recently closed a consultation period on the future organisation of its family proceedings courts. The GLMCA is currently considering the responses to its consultation paper and I am sure that it will wish to take into account the views of all involved before settling its plans. Unless a matter is referred to the Lord Chancellor according to statute this Department is not able to intervene.
