To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how many local wildlife sites there are. [129361]

I understand from the Wildlife Trusts' publication "Status of UK Wildlife Site Systems 2002" that there are at least 37,045 local wildlife sites in the United Kingdom.
