To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the budget of the Performance and Innovation Fund was in each of the last five years; and if he will make a statement. [134226]

There is no Performance and Innovation fund. However, the Policy Innovation Fund was established in the 2000 Spending Review and the first year in which allocations were made was 2001–02. The budget for the years 2001–02, 2002–03 and 2003–04 was £50 million per annum.
