To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans he has to combat PXE; and if he will make a statement. [134999]

[holding answer 28 October 2003]: Specialised genetics services may play a role in the diagnosis of Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE), and in giving advice to families about inheritance of the disease. As a result of the genetics White Paper and earlier commitments, the Government are investing substantially in genetics services.
