Securing the Benefits (Grant Applications)

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how many grant applications for the fishing industry made under the scheme set out in Securing the Benefits have taken longer than eight weeks to process in 2006; what the average processing time has been; and how many applications were processed within the eight week target in 2005. For the period 1 January 2006 to 19 May 2006, 55 out of 57 grant claims made under the financial instrument for fisheries guidance scheme (96 per cent.) were processed within eight weeks. The average processing time was 19 working days including the time taken to chase additional necessary information from the claimant.

For 2005, 123 out of 136 grant claims (90 per cent.) were processed within eight weeks. The average processing time was 23 working days including the time taken to chase additional necessary information from the claimant.
