Coastal Monitoring

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many HM Revenue and Customs staff were allocated to the monitoring of the coasts of (a) Wales, (b) Scotland and (c) the South West in each year since 2001. (75295)

At present HM Revenue and Customs has some 1,200 Intelligence and 4,500 frontline Detection staff whose role includes monitoring movements across all UK frontiers.
