Release on Licence

Volume 447: debated on Monday 12 June 2006

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many UK national offenders were released on licence from prison in the last 12 months, broken down by type of offence. (74592)

Information on the numbers of United Kingdom nationals received into prison establishments between April 2005 and March 2006, by type of offence, is contained within the following table drawn from the Prison Service IT System. The figures are restricted to those sentenced to one year or more as the majority of those with shorter sentences are not released on licence.

Receptions are used as a proxy for discharges because of concerns about the completeness of the available data on discharges.
