To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department in how many incidents a deactivated gun that has been reactivated was used in shootings and armed violence in England and Wales in the last five years; and which of these incidents resulted in murder. (77610)

Data for recorded crime involving specific types of imitation firearms in England and Wales have been collected centrally only since April 2004.

In 2004-05, police recorded one violent offence that involved a deactivated firearm. The weapon was used as a threat and did not result in injury.
