Financial Literacy

Volume 448: debated on Tuesday 11 July 2006

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what recent discussions he has had with representatives of Citizens Advice on financial exclusion; and what partnerships he is aiming to put in place to improve financial literacy in (a) schools and (b) wider society. (84498)

My department has regular contact with Citizens Advice on financial inclusion issues.

Improving financial literacy is being taken forward through the FSA led National Strategy for Financial Capability. The FSA is working in partnership not only with Government, but also with the financial services industry and the voluntary sector, including Citizens Advice, to create a step change in financial capability in schools and wider society.
