We have worked closely with the Youth Sport Trust to increase participation in physical activity in children and young people through the “Schools on the Move” pedometer pilot. Specifically, the Department, working in partnership with the Department for Education and Skills, has provided £106,000 in funding to the Youth Sport Trust between March 2005 and March 2006 to project manage and deliver the “Schools on the Move” programme, as well as to commission an evaluation of the pilots.
