The Domestic Violence Crime and Victims Act 2004 is the biggest overhaul of domestic violence legislation for 35 years. It is a key part of the Government’s aim of putting victims at the heart of the criminal justice system. The Act has been rolling out in stages since January 2005. The remaining provisions will be implemented as appropriate.
