To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what the (a) total volume and (b) percentage change in traffic was for each year between 1997 and 2006; and what proportion of the change he estimates derived from each (i) income quintile and (ii) classification of residential neighbourhoods. (84444)

The levels of motor vehicle traffic and the percentage changes each year from 1997 to 2005 are given in the following table.
