To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills how many and what proportion of newly qualified teachers have entered the fee paying sector after qualifying each year for the past three years. (89242)

The following table provides the number and percentage of final year trainees gaining qualified teacher status (QTS) awarded by academic years 2002/03 to 2004/05 and known to be employed in a teaching post in the non-maintained sector six months into the subsequent academic year.
