Gershon Review

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what progress he has made in implementing the Gershon savings. (95680)

The Government have made good progress towards achieving these targets. The Government's July publication, ‘Releasing Resources to meet the challenges ahead: value for money in the 2007 Comprehensive Spending Review’, announced that, by the end of March 2006, departments and local authorities had already reported annual efficiency gains of £9.8 billion and gross workforce reductions of 45,547.
