Cancelled Operations

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many operations were cancelled because of (a) managerial or administrative reasons and (b) unclean or missing surgery equipment in the (i) Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire strategic health authority area and (ii) Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust area; and if she will make a statement. [holding answer 23 October 2006]: The Department collects data on the number of operations cancelled at the last minute for non-clinical reasons. The following table shows the latest data available for the period April to June 2006, as published on 25 August 2006, for the number of operations cancelled at the last minute for non-clinical reasons for acute trusts in the Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire area.
