23. To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent representations she has made to the Government of Sudan on the security situation in Darfur. (98371)

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for International Development travelled to Sudan on 16 October to see the security situation in Darfur first-hand. He met with President Bashir to press Sudan for an immediate end to fighting to accept a UN force; meanwhile to co-operate fully with the African Union Mission in Sudan; to bring the non-signatories on board the Darfur Peace Agreement; and allow full humanitarian access to Darfur.
