To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how much his Department paid to external consultants in each year since 1997; and what the budget is for external consultants in 2007-08. (99425)

The Department came into being in July 2001. Information held centrally on how much the core-Department spent on external consultants in each of the last five years will be placed in the House of Commons Library by 10 November 2006. The budget for external consultants in 2007-08 is yet to be determined.
