To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what assessment he has made of the effect of the reduction in expenditure on the ability of the state veterinary service to deal with outbreaks of disease. (100032)

There has been no reduction in funding for the SVS. On the contrary, the SVS has received an increase of £19 million this year in its funding.
