To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what research studies were commissioned by his Department in each of the last five years where a decision was taken not to publish the results of the research after it was completed. (103505)

Out of a total of 2,272 research projects commissioned during the period 2002-06, 43 reports were withheld from publication. The breakdown of the number not published in each year against the reasons given for non publication are given in the following table.
