Digital Broadcasting: Norfolk

Volume 454: debated on Wednesday 6 December 2006

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what estimate she has made of the number of people in Norfolk have switched from analogue television to digital television; what proportion that is of the total number of licence holders in the country; and if she will make a statement. (107769)

We do not have specific figures for Norfolk. However, Ofcom estimate that digital take-up of at least one television set is around 66 per cent. in the east of England. (Ofcom report: The Communications Market, Nations and Regions 2006). Nationwide, the figure is 70.2 per cent. (Ofcom report: Communications Market: Digital Progress Report Digital TV, Q2 2006).

We continue to work with Digital UK to ensure the public have the information they need to switch to digital television in good time.
