To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how complaints about the (a) fairness and (b) legality of treatment of those having dealings with the prison service are investigated. (104758)

Investigations into complaints are conducted in accordance with the requirements of Prison Service Order 1300—Investigations. It is for the appropriate manager to make a judgement of the seriousness and nature of the complaint in order to decide the level of the investigation, and who will carry it out.
