Child Sex Offenders

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many child sex offenders were convicted in England and Wales in each of the last 10 years. (107956)

Data from the court proceedings database held by the Office for Criminal Justice Reform showing the total number of convictions for sexual offences against children are in the following table.

However, it is important to note that these data have been extracted from large administrative data systems generated by the police forces and courts. As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes and their inevitable limitations are taken into account when those data are used.

3 The Sexual Offences Act 2003 introduced a large number of new offences which resulted in changes in the coverage of the figures shown in this table.
